Handmade die cut greetings card: “Folk art doily”

$ 4.81

Description Is ‘doily’ the correct word to use in this context? I wasn’t really sure how else to describe this rather complex die cut, which has a hint of Scandinavia about it. I experimented a lot with this card before settling on a final design. I initially wanted the doily part to be multi-coloured, lively and jolly, but no matter how I tried to colour it – by using alcohol ink pens, or by cutting it in multiple colours and affixing the occasional coloured flower over the white – but in the end I realised that sometimes, less is more. So this is a complex cut but simply presented: the doily is cut from plain white card and affixed onto a pearlised pewter coloured background. I’ve cut out an extra peacock in peacock blue and affixed it in the corresponding part of the doily, and the deer (at least I think it’s a deer!) is cut from pearlised rich purple and affixed onto its proper position. That’s it! A blank handmade greetings card which can be used for any occasion in any language – or why not just frame it? It’s nice enough for this! This handmade greetings card measures approximately 17.7 x 12.7cm and is supplied with a white envelope. It’s protected by a cellophane bag.
